On Wednesday March 19, Councilmember Ryu introduced a motion related to Hillside Construction Regulation as a follow-up to the Interim Control Ordinance number 183,497 for the Laurel Canyon and Bird Street neighborhoods of Council District 4. The proposed code amendment and zone change ordinance provide tailored and context-sensitive regulations for single family dwelling units within Hillside Designated Single Family zoned areas.
The Code Amendment will provide more specialized regulation for single-family dwelling units by proposing a new “Hillside Construction Regulation” Supplemental Use District proposed for the Los Angeles Municipal Code, case number CPC-2016-4085-CA. The new HCR represents context sensitive zoning meant to establish hauling operation standards, construction activity standards, grading limits, and discretionary review process for large single-family dwellings over a specific square footage.
The Planning Land Use Management Committee unanimously approved the HCR motion today. It will likely go to Council the third week of April. These actions do not effectuate the zone change but rather gets the ball rolling on the process. There will be a mailing to constituents within the proposed new zone.areas and a subsequent Public hearing. We look forward to working with you all through this process.
